What they said about us:

I have been studying Kenyan Sign Language at Horizon Sign Language Training Centre, Nakuru Branch for the past 2 weeks. I came to learn of HSLTC from a poster pinned on our office notice board. I love trying out new things and I thought why not try Kenyan Sign Language.
This far, the experience has been great with Martin Njoroge as my tutor. I have learnt that Sign Language is a language in itself as English, Spanish or French. It has its own culture. I am happy with my decision as learning the language has enabled me to understand and be able to communicate with the Deaf. Plus I have made new friends!
I would like to encourage those interested in learning Sign Language to join HSLTC as it’s the best place to learn how to sign the Kenyan Sign Language way.

The first day I met Deaf persons I developed an interest to learn this unique and fun Language. I could watch them communicate through Kenyan Sign Language and just smile. I met many Deaf friends and through them I got to know about Horizon Sign Language Training Centre. I met an expert trainer by the name Lawrence who is the co- founder of the establishment. All sessions were interesting and full of laughter meaning this language is full of much fun. I learnt so much about Deaf culture. They are so friendly and every time I do meet any of my friends or a new Deaf person there is always something new to learn. Horizon Sign Language Training Centre is the best institution to learn Kenyan Sign Language at. They are experts.

I take this golden opportunity once again to thank Horizon Sign Language Training Centre for taking me through the basic sign language. This has really helped me to communicate with Deaf community I meet in the line of my duty making it easier for them to access services without any challenge. God bless my tutor, Mr. Lawrence Musili who has been of great help to me while learning by giving me ample time to take my classes while I’m available due to tight working schedules. God bless the institution and its management too.

In this institution, I have learnt the basics in Kenyan Sign Language.
My tutor (Martin Njoroge) is very helpful and willing to assist. The exams are friendly.
All I can request is if HSLTC can come together with another institution to help in practical. Sign Language needs a lot of practise especially like HSLTC that has no many students.
Many people in Nakuru are willing to learn Kenyan Sign Language especially now that education system is changing where Kenyan Sign Language will be necessary, so vigorous marketing is needed.
I have enjoyed learning a new language and its fun.

My name is Chelsea Wangari pursuing a basic Kenyan Sign Language course at Horizon Sign Language Training Centre. My tutor is Martin and he is an expert in the field of KSL training. I have learnt a lot of things and many are yet to come. Due to the skills passed on to me by my tutor, I can now be able to communicate with a Deaf person which is something good and I love doing. The skills gained also will help me in the future as I seek to pursue Special Needs Education. The establishment should look up to educating more people on Kenyan Sign Language. It is fun and enjoyable to learn the language.

Thanks be to HSLTC for making my passion for Kenyan Sign Language a reality. Viva Horizon Sign Language Training Centre!

Learning Kenyan Sign Language for me was motivated by two aspects. First, a bucket list item of learning a new language and when I thought of which to learn I wondered, why not one that is not spoken? Secondly, I have always had a peculiar philosophical inquiry into whether the language we use affects how we think, learning this new language is a step closer into this inquiry. I learned about Horizon Sign Language Training Centre (HSLTC) through a search in the internet and I remember the first day I visited the establishment and saw people chatting in Kenyan Sign Language and having hearty laughter I knew I was in the right place. The school has a flexible schedule customised for the students and is simply the best place to learn Kenyan Sign Language. Come learn at HSLTC and let your hands do the talking for you!

I have always been curious about Sign Language because of its uniqueness. Later I developed interest in learning Kenyan Sign Language and when the opportunity came up I took the challenge. Kenyan Sign Language has helped me to understand Deafness and know how to communicate and interact with the Deaf people. It has also helped me to separate the facts from the myths that are associated with Deaf people.

I appreciate Horizon Sign Language Training Centre because it has given me a flexible and an affordable opportunity to learn Kenyan Sign Language. I will encourage the people I interact with to learn KSL so that they can understand more on Deafness and how to communicate with the Deaf people. I am really enjoying the training so far. The teachers are patient and very lively. They make learning KSL to appear so easy and they make the lesson very enjoyable.

My name is Faith Angela Kwamboka and I am a student at Horizon Sign Language Training Centre studying to acquire Kenyan Sign Language knowledge and skills. I am enjoying my study here and I am grateful for the opportunity to study in this training Centre. The training here has given me an opportunity to prepare for the course that I would like pursue in the near future. Our teacher, Martin is a great tutor whose main aim is to ensure all students in his class are familiar with everything he teaches. His sessions are as lively such that it provides a base for proper learning. During my period of study here, I have learnt a lot which makes me aware and getting to learn that with determination, Kenyan Sign Language is easy to understand. Thank you HSLTC For the opportunity to train with you!
